Does Root Canal Therapy Hurt?
Root canal therapy is designed to be a simple, pain-free procedure to help eliminate discomfort caused by infection. We use topical and local anesthetics to numb the tooth and connected nerve before beginning the procedure. We also offer sedation dentistry to those who need a little extra help feeling at ease. The two types we offer are laughing gas and oral conscious sedation. Learn more about how we can provide you with pain-free, stress-free dentistry here.
High-Quality Rotary and Ultrasonic Technology
Many people fear root canals, but it’s actually a fairly simple process. With the latest techniques and technology, root canals are quick, painless procedures that can help you feel better quickly. Let’s talk about what a root canal procedure entails and how we can help eliminate your pain and restore your smile.
The first step in the process is to administer the local anesthetic and, if necessary, sedation medication. Once you are comfortable, we will create a small hole in the tooth we are restoring. To do this, we use a tiny file. The file we use, called the Vortex Blue rotary file, is designed to penetrate the enamel of the tooth and also be flexible enough to follow the curvatures of the root canal.
We will then remove all of the infected tissue inside of your tooth. We use ultrasonic technology to disinfect the root canal. Our ultrasonic tools create small vibrations that help to remove infected pulp. This allows us to streamline the process of cleaning and sealing the tooth.
Once we are finished cleaning and sealing the tooth, the cavity is filled with a latex material called gutta-percha. This sealing and filling helps to prevent any further infection. We then cap the tooth with a beautiful new crown.
After the procedure is complete, you will no longer be able to feel any pain in that tooth. Root canals are a simple procedure that allow you to go home with a restored, pain-free smile.
