Relieving Dental Anxiety in Snellville, GA: Sedation Dentistry
Are you nervous about seeing the dentist? We can help. With our warm, welcoming office atmosphere, wide variety of comfort amenities, and sedation dentistry options in relieving dental anxiety, we can help you feel relaxed and at ease while in our care.
A Warm, Welcoming Atmosphere
The first step to helping our patients feel at ease is to create a welcoming, comforting atmosphere. We have done this by employing a spacious, 6,000-square-foot facility with large windows. This creates an open, comfortable environment. We also have a friendly, knowledgeable team that is essential in helping our patients feel at home.
Semi-private operatories are also something that help our patients feel at ease. We understand that you don’t want your dental care out in the open for the whole office to see. We can take care of you in a more private environment.
Comfort Amenities
In additional to our inviting atmosphere, we offer a range of comfort amenities aimed at helping you feel as relaxed as possible. We offer:
- Drinks in the waiting room. You should not be waiting long, but we offer refreshments for the short time that you do.
- Pillows and blankets during the procedure. If you would like to feel as relaxed as possible, we offer soft pillows and blankets for use during procedures. Feel free to take advantage of this!
- Televisions in every operatory. Relax and enjoy what is on TV. This often helps patients distract themselves from the actual procedure and to feel more at ease.
- Longer appointment times. If you need to schedule a longer appointment time in order to take things at your own pace, we can help you with that. We want to make sure you are completely comfortable with everything we are doing.
Sedation Dentistry
At Parkway Dental, we offer two types of sedation dentistry: inhaled sedation and oral conscious sedation.
Inhaled sedation is a gas that is inhaled via a face mask to create a more relaxed demeanor. This type of sedation is great for taking the edge off of your nerves. We offer free inhaled sedation for any patients who want it. It is a very low level of sedation and wears off quickly.
We also offer oral conscious sedation. This form of sedation is administered by mouth, usually in the form of pill. We use a small amount of Valium or Halcion to help you feel very relaxed. With this type of sedation, you are still awake and aware of the procedure, but you may feel groggy enough to doze in and out. If you decide to use oral conscious sedation, please note that you will need someone to drive you to and from the office, as this medication wears off slower than inhaled sedation.
Both methods of sedation are completely safe and easy to use. The type you choose will depend solely on your level of dental anxiety and the procedure at hand. We can help you feel very relaxed and at ease with these simple additions to your treatment. Let us know how we can help you feel even more comfortable while you are in our care.
