How Lumineers Compare With Other Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are one of the most versatile and popular cosmetic dental procedures in the United States.
We know that a single veneer or a set of veneers can change how a patient feels about his or her smile. We’ve seen how veneers have given patients more confidence in their smiles many times in our Snellville, GA, office.
Veneers offer several benefits, and many patients find that Lumineers have one more benefit that they can’t get with traditional porcelain veneers. We offer both at Parkway Dental. In today’s post, we want to discuss what veneers can do, and what sets Lumineers apart from other dental veneers.
How Veneers Can Change Your Smile
One of the first things we mentioned is that veneers are versatile. The easiest way to explain why we feel this way is to share a list of ways you can change your smile with any of our dental veneers:
➤ You can rebuild broken teeth.
➤ You can make dark or yellow teeth look bright and white.
➤ You can make “short” teeth look bigger.
➤ You can make crooked teeth look straight.
➤ You can fix chipped teeth.
➤ You can close gaps between teeth.
➤ You can restore worn-down teeth.
➤ You can make crowded teeth look more evenly spaced.
Veneers won’t fix every possible problem you may have, but they can fix many things. One of the advantages of getting veneers is that they can be used to make more than one change at the same time.
For example, if you have teeth that have become yellow with time and you have a gap in your smile, veneers can give you the appearance of pearly whites with no extra space between them.
With veneers, you can change your smile relatively quickly, too. Where orthodontic treatments (which some patients will need or prefer) can take several months or even a couple years, you could change your smile in a matter of a few weeks with dental veneers.
And once your veneers are bonded to your teeth, they can last for decades with proper care.
How Lumineers Are Different
Lumineers are a little different than the porcelain veneers that we offer. (We have both daVinci and e.max veneers.)
The primary difference is the thickness of each of these types of veneers. Both kinds of veneers are thin, but Lumineers are approximately 0.2 mm thin. This is important because it affects what kind of preparations are needed before you get your veneers.
The first step for any patient interested in any veneers is an evaluation. We need to examine your teeth to determine if they are healthy before we proceed.
Assuming you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers, the next step is removing a thin layer of enamel from your teeth. Then we make an impression, which is sent to a dental lab. The lab workers use that impression to create a custom-fitted set of veneers for your teeth.
When they are ready, you’ll return to our office so your veneers can be bonded to your teeth. You might be surprised how dramatically different your smile can look.
Because Lumineers are so thin, we usually don’t need to remove any enamel from your teeth. For patients with highly sensitive teeth, this can be a big advantage.
This also makes Lumineers reversible. If you decide years from now that you want to take your Lumineers off, then your complete tooth will be intact when they are removed.
You Deserve To Be Happy With Your Smile
Lumineers have proven themselves time and time again to be an excellent option for patients who want to create a “Hollywood” smile.
If there is something you wish was different about your teeth, make plans to visit with one of our dentists in Snellville, GA. They will be happy to discuss your goals, to examine your mouth, and to advise you on which of our cosmetic treatments can help make your real smile look like your dream smile.
For many patients, Lumineers veneers are a great option. If you aren’t sure that you are ready to get veneers, however, then you may be interested in Snap-On Smile. This is a removable cover that fits over your teeth and can provide temporary improvements similar to veneers.
