Make Oral Health a Habit
They say it takes a village to raise a child. It’s just as accurate to say it takes a team to protect a smile.
And we want to be part of the team for your family.
We treat patients of all ages, from 2 to 99 years old. Whether you need preventive care or teeth repairs, we can handle it right here at Parkway Dental.
When you bring your children to see us for the first time, we want them to feel special. We want your daughter or son to understand that we are here to help them.
While we want every patient to feel comfortable, we make an extra effort any time we are caring for a child. We also know that a child’s first dental visit is an important milestone for the parents and the child.
For children younger than 4, we prefer to start things simple. It’s important to us that this visit is a fun and happy experience for your little one. That’s why we do things a little different than we do with older kids.
Many young children want to sit in the lap of a parent or an older sibling during their dental exam. Being near someone they already know and trust can help them stay relaxed.
Rather than a full examination with X-rays and a complete cleaning, we try to keep this initial visit low-stress for everyone involved. We don’t want to do anything that would discourage your children from returning to the dentist as he or she gets older.
For children 4 and up, we do more during their initial visits with us. We find that kids this age and older are more likely to sit through an exam, X-rays, and a professional cleaning.
Questions are Always Welcome
Kids are naturally curious, and we are happy to answer any questions they have about what we do or about the equipment we use.
At the same time, we know that many parents have questions as well. Your questions are just as important to us. We want you to leave with a good understanding of what you can expect during a visit to our practice and what we can do to help you and your family keep your smiles looking great.
This includes answering questions about what you and your family should do at home as part of your daily oral hygiene routine.
The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth and flossing between them every day. When your brush, scrub your teeth for two minutes twice a day. Be sure to use a soft-bristled toothbrush with a toothpaste with fluoride.
Flossing is equally important. That’s how you remove food particles, plaque, and bacteria from between your teeth and below your gumline.
We Want to See Your Smiles
